What We Encourage

- Inclusive Language: Use language that welcomes diverse perspectives and backgrounds
- Solution-Oriented Approach: Focus on actionable solutions and positive change
What We Prohibit
- Hate Speech & Discrimination: Content targeting individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or other protected characteristics
- Violence & Threats: Petitions promoting, encouraging, or threatening violence or harm to individuals or groups
- Illegal Activities: Content promoting illegal activities, including drug trafficking, weapons dealing, or other criminal behavior
- Harassment & Bullying: Targeted harassment, doxxing, or intimidation of individuals
- Misinformation: Deliberately false or misleading information intended to deceive users
- Spam & Scams: Promotional content, commercial solicitations, phishing attempts, or fraudulent schemes
- Impersonation: Pretending to be someone else or misrepresenting your identity or affiliation
- Manipulation: Using bots, fake accounts, or other fraudulent means to manipulate petition signatures
Petition Best Practices
Clear Title: Use a concise, descriptive title that clearly states your petition's goal (e.g., "Increase Funding for Public Schools by 20%")
Detailed Description: Explain the problem, why it matters, and what specific action you're requesting. Include relevant facts, statistics, and sources.
Specific Ask: Clearly identify who has the power to make the change you're seeking (e.g., "We call on the City Council to...")
Realistic Goals: Set achievable signature targets and timelines. Consider starting with smaller milestones.
Engage Supporters: Share updates, respond to comments, and keep signers informed of progress.
Enforcement & Consequences
AI Moderation: All petitions are automatically scanned by our AI system before publication. Flagged content is reviewed by our moderation team.
Manual Review: Users can report violations, which are reviewed by our team within 24-48 hours.
Consequences for Violations:
- First Offense: Warning and content removal
- Second Offense: Temporary account suspension (7-30 days)
- Third Offense or Severe Violations: Permanent account termination
Severe violations (illegal content, threats, harassment) may result in immediate permanent suspension and reporting to law enforcement.
Reporting Violations
If you encounter content that violates these guidelines:
- Click the "Report" button on the petition or comment
- Select the type of violation
- Provide additional context if necessary
Our moderation team reviews all reports. False or malicious reports may result in consequences for the reporter.
Appeals Process
If you believe your content was removed or your account was suspended in error, you may appeal by contacting support@ourvoicechain.com within 14 days. Include:
- Your account email
- Petition ID or content in question
- Explanation of why you believe the decision was incorrect
Appeals are reviewed within 5-7 business days. Our decision on appeals is final.
